기타리스트 Henjo Richter와 드러머 Daniel Zimmermann를 새로 영입하고 기타를 연주하던 Dirk Schlachter가 베이스로 파트를 옮기는 등 많은 포지션의 변동이 있은 후에 발표된 Gamma Ray의 다섯 번째 정규작 Somewhere Out In Space 이다. 전작에 비해 보다 풍성하고 복잡한 악곡을 지향하고 있으며 다소 우주적인 분위기도 풍긴다. 멜로디가 한층 쉬워졌으나 파워풀하고 꽉찬 연주로 가벼운 느낌은 없다. 멜로딕계의 명인, Kai Hansen의 천재적인 작곡력으로 청자의 감성을 무한대로 끌어올리고 있다. 앨범의 컨셉은 영화 2001: Space Odyssey에서 따왔다고 한다.
