오케스트라과 합창단의 본격 도입으로, 웅장한 오페라 록의 새로운 지평을 펼친 앨범으로 기록된 Nightwish의 다섯 번째 정규작 Once 이다. 그에 반해, 미세한 음의 입자로 표출되던 극적인 서정미는 위축된 느낌이며 강렬한 비트의 리듬감이 도입되어 평가가 양분될 소지가 다분하다. 영화 '반지의 제왕'으로 널리 알려진 London Session Orchestra의 참여는 Nightwish 역사상 가장 웅대한 사운드를 구현하게 되는 토대가 되었다. 개인적으론 전작들보다 못하다고 생각하지만, 본작 Once에 대한 팬들의 호의적인 평가는 실로 엄청나다. Nuclear Blast에서 내놓은 처녀작으로, Nuclear Blast 역사상 가장 많은 판매고를 올린 밀리언셀러중 하나로 남게 되었다. Tuomas Holopainen과 TeeCee Kinnunen의 프로듀싱으로 완성되었다.
