성공, 퇴보, 그리고 다시 성공의 역사를 쓰는 밴드
아치에너미는 Wages Of Sin까지는 흠잡을때 없는 곡을 써내면서 전세계의 메탈팬들을 흥분하게 했지만 그 후의 앨범들은 아치에너미가 맞는지 의심가게 할정도의 앨범을 내왔다. 하지만 드디어 그 의심을 타파할 앨범이 왔으니, 그게 바로 본작, Rise of the Tyrant이다. 전작의 우왕자왕 하는 면모에서 드디어 확실히 그들만의 곡구성법을 찾아냈으며 곡의 유기성도 훨씬 부드러워졌다. 언제나 질주하는 크리스와 마이클의 솔로는 더욱 더 멜로디컬함이 강조 되었으며 나무랄데 없는 정확한 다니엘의 드러밍도 언제나 한결같이 아치에너미의 사운드를 더해준다. 이 앨범에서 제일 강조되는것은 뭐니뭐니 해도 안젤라의 확실해진 위치이다. 아무리 안젤라가 뛰어난 보컬이라 해도 릴바가 있던 위치에 들어서는거기에 그녀만의 보컬을 보여주기 힘들었던 점이 없지않아 있었을것이다. 하지만 이 앨범으로 안젤라는 그녀의 자리를 확고히 지켰다. 음악적으로도 밴드적으로도 성공한 앨범이라 생각된다.

들리는 것만으로 어떤 심상을 떠올리게 할 수 있다는 것을 정말 확실하게 느끼게 해주는 앨범. 곡구성과 전개도 흠잡을 데 없지만 무엇보다 이 앨범 전체에서 느낄 수 있는 분위기가 사람을 꼼짝 못하게 만든다.
