Edguy는 싱어송라이터 Tobias Sammet을 중심으로 1992년 결성된 독일 출신의 밴드이다. 1995년경 멤버들이 자체적으로 제작했었던 Savage Poetry를 새로이 다듬어 2000년에 정규 네 번째 앨범으로 발표하였으며 이듬해 Avantasia의 Metal Opera와 본작 Mandrake을 내놓는다. 최고의 완성도를 지닌 Metal Opera와 그에 못지 않은 평가를 얻은 본작으로 말미암아 Tobias Sammet의 주가가 그야말로 최고조로 치솟게 된다. 기존의 사운드와 크게 다르지 않으면서도 보다 다채로운 성숙된 음악을 담고 있다.
