At this point in time, Anathema was transitioning from their early, heavy Death-Doom Metal style to a lighter, more melodic one. The end result is passable, but really leaves a lot to be desired.

For all the praise "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" gets, it has always felt so underwhelming. Go listen to the albums that came after this one (they're all better).

First release from SWANS after Michael Gira decided to revive the band in 2010. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound as great as most of their past material from the 1980s and 1990s. I'm also not the biggest fan of the newer Post-Rock direction that the music took, but it's still a decent release at the very least.

KMFDM went harder on "Nihil", integrating more guitars into their sound. This release is considered to be amongst their best, but I personally just haven't ever enjoyed it much (and that includes the hit, "Juke Joint Jezebel"). Not a bad release though.

A nice set of songs, although nothing is as substantial as the lead singles.

Talented musicians these guys were. The guitar work brings to mind both NWOBHM and Neoclassical Metal, except various years before those even existed. Truly a shame that this is the only record that A.F.T. ever released, as they had lots of potential.
