1990년 Ceremonial Oath를 탈퇴한 Jesper Stromblad는 Glenn Liungstrom, Johan Larsson와 함께 In Flames를 결성한다. Whoracle은 The Jester Race 앨범으로 충격을 안겨준 이후의 앨범인데, 전작에 비해 다소 스트레이트하고 단순한 사운드를 구사한다. 높은 평가를 받고 있는 앨범이긴 하지만 In Flames의 다른 걸작들에 비해 완성도가 어느정도 떨어진다고 생각된다. 오프닝 트랙으로 많은 인기를 누린 Jotun, 박진감 넘치는 사운드를 구사하는 Episode 666등을 담고 있다.
