호평을 받았던 The Time Of The Oath에 버금가는 완성도를 지니고 있는 본작 The Dark Ride는 새로운 Helloween을 탄생시켰다는 느낌이 든다. Helloween 역대 앨범 중 가장 어둡고 무거운 사운드를 들려주고 있는데, 이는 새로이 참여한 프로듀서 Roy Z의 영향으로 변화한 듯하다. 뭔가 꿈틀대는 Helloween의 저력을 느낄 수 있으며 동일 라인업으로 발표한 네 번째 앨범인 만큼 안정된 사운드를 들려준다. 앨범 발매후 내한공연이 성사되어 많은 이들의 가슴을 설레게 하였다.
