Additional notes
La Dispute is a five-piece band originating from Grand Rapids, Michigan. They formed and signed to Friction Records in 2004 but they didn't release their first EP for another two years. In 2006, after making two lineup changes, they released Vancouver. Vancouver would end up being the only release that the Post-Hardcore band would make on Friction records.
La Dispute signed to Forest Life Records and released two EPs in 2008, both on May 1st. They were Here, Hear. and Shall Never Lose Its Power / Only Everything Below. Here, Hear was of a different style than previous La Dispute releases because it focused more on Spoken Word and used a variety of writings from different artists.
Again, La Dispute opted to switch record labels, choosing to sign with No Sleep Records, where they would release their first LP and another EP on the same day. On November 11th, 2008 they released Here, Hear. II and Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair. Somewhere received nearly unanimously favorable ratings from critics and its release marked the first time the band had been thrust into the public spotlight.
In late 2009, La Dispute self-released Here, Hear. III, the third installment of the Here, Hear series, while also re-releasing the first two. For a period of just under a month, all proceeds from all three releases were donated to Wellhouse Community Living in Grand Rapids. This wouldn't be the last time that La Dispute donated to charity.
In 2010, La Dispute and Touché Amoré released the split Searching for a Pulse / The Worth of the World and in 2011, La Dispute teamed up with Koji to release Never Come Undone. La Dispute got their first chance to headline in January of 2011 in Australia during the floods and they donated their proceeds from ticket sales to flood relief.
La Dispute released their second full length album, titled Wildlife in 2011 and followed it up by releasing an approximately 75 minute long interview with Jordan Dreyer explaining the themes behind the music.
