Additional notes
When asked about the origin of their name, Mika Luttinen stated in an interview that he had read a pamphlet about Christ appearing to be a vampire. He got to thinking about how impaling a vampire is one of the only ways to kill them and thus, thought of the name "Impaled Nazarene".
The band's lyrics have always been controversial. For example, after the release of the album Suomi Finland Perkele a communist youth group from Paris got upset by the lyrics for the song "Total War - Winter War" and convinced a major store in France to remove the record from their shelves. According to some rumors, Ugra-Karma was mistakenly removed instead.
The band was infamous for seeming to hate the Norwegian black metal scene back in the early 1990s, but in later times, the band seemed to disassociate with such hatred. Impaled Nazarene stopped wearing corpse paint in the mid-1990s due to it being "too trendy".
The band entered the Tico Tico studio in August of 1995 to record the MCD "Hamnasnas". After just one day in the studio, the recording session abruptly ended when Kimmo and Taneli started an argument that quickly turned into a brawl. As a consequence of the incident, Kimmo left the band. Years later Kimmo and Taneli settled their differences and started a band called The Black League.
