Recorded in September and October 2000 at Doubletime Studios, California, USA.
The release features all 5 songs from the band's demo CD re-recorded and five new songs. Drummer Troy Born left the band shortly after the recording. Keyboardist Molly Street was invited to contribute to the album as a guest musician, but wound up joining the band after the recording session went so well.
Five songs (track 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7) were later re-recorded on next two albums.
Dust to Ashes was released to stores on March 20, 2001. The band played a release show on March 25, 2001.
