Formed by Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul after Pantera ended, originally under the name of New Found Power.

Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott was shot to death while Damageplan was performing in a nightclub in Columbus, Ohio, on December 8th, 2004. The band eventually broke up in the aftermath of the shooting.

Five songs were written and demoed for a second album, with Vinnie on drums and Dimebag on guitars and bass, with no vocals.

Shawn Matthews was the bassist for the band's former moniker, New Found Power. He did not play for the band under the Damageplan moniker.
