Additional notes
Though 1985 is commonly listed as the band's founding year, the book Rusted Metal traces Sanctuary's history back to before Warrel Dane had joined the band, when it had been fronted by Randy Bowman (designer of their original logo). They also had another drummer for a short time before Dave Budbill joined in 1984.
After the band initially broke up in 1992, Warrel Dane, Jim Sheppard, and touring guitarist Jeff Loomis went on to form Nevermore. Lenny and Dave formed Undone. The final line-up, including Loomis, was reformed in 2010 for touring purposes.
Internal conflicts within Nevermore saw Loomis leave both bands in 2011 and, due to the former's subsequent collapse, Sanctuary became Dane and Sheppard's main concern again.
Named after a safe place in the 1976 sci-fi movie "Logan's Run".
Lenny Rutledge and Sean Blosl are cousins.
