Additional notes
Named after the track 'Heavy Artillery' by Tank. Founded by Carsten Nielsen and Jørgen Sandau. The band played their first concert on October 14th, 1983 together with Dark Mission and Evil.
Quorthon (of Bathory) wrote drummer Carsten Nielsen in the summer of 1986, asking him if he'd be interested in joining Bathory. Nielsen replied that he figured his band Artillery would be ten times bigger than Bathory, and thus kindly but firmly turned the offer down.
Band first went on hiatus in mid 1987, after the release of 'Terror Squad'. They regrouped in August 1988, facing many line up shifts until their break up in early 1992.
A first reunion in 1999 was anticipated by a gig in August 1998; band quietly disbanded again in 2000, before reuniting for another one-off gig in late 2004 and returning on a permanent basis in November 2007.
