Recorded and mixed at Miller Recording Studio, North Newton, Kansas.
Produced by Manilla Road for Roadster Records, Inc.
Open the Gates is dedicated to Al Arnold (Till We Meet Again).
Released by Black Dragon Records on vinyl. Due to its length, it was released as an LP and an additional 12" single (featuring "The Ninth Wave" and "Witches Brew"), which were placed in the same single record sleeve.
Comes with inner lyric sleeve, but does not feature the lyrics to the two songs on the 12" single.
The album was actually released in late 1984, despite Black Dragon Records claiming it to have been a 1985 release.
