Additional notes
Although not officially released until 1998, the debut album was recorded in 1982. Pagan Altar reformed in 2004 to record their unfinished second album and have carried on ever since. In the early years of the band's existence, considerable time and effort went into portraying the mood and feel of Pagan Altar's music from a visual aspect. The stage act was perfected to a fine art and followed an ongoing theme that continued throughout the whole set beginning with opener "Pagan Altar" and culminating in the 11-minute-long finale "Armageddon".
Pagan Altar recorded an album prior to Terry Jones' death that wasn't released. Alan decided to partly re-record it, retitled it The Room of Shadows and signed to Temple of Mystery Records for its release.
In 2017, Alan, together with Pagan Altar members Diccon Harper, Andy Green, and session members Brendan Radigan and Andres Arango performed two shows as Time Lord for the release of The Room of Shadows. The same lineup performed select shows (as Pagan Altar) in 2018 in celebration of the band's 40th anniversary.
Terry Jones and Alan Jones are father and son.
