Additional notes
Deathspell Omega was formed by Hasjarl as a side-project before Hirilorn broke up. After Hirilorn split, Shaxul, Hasjarl, and Khaos carried on with Deathspell Omega as a three-piece. Eventually, Mikko Aspa replaced Shaxul on vocals, due to Shaxul's distaste for the band's evolving direction towards Orthodox Satanism.

Little is known about the band's modern lineup; for example, the band has not credited a drummer since 1999, and although Mikko Aspa is commonly credited as their vocalist, the band has never confirmed this. Deathspell Omega also did not give any direct statements to the public for 15 years. This silence was bookended by interviews from approximately 2004 (around the release of their third album Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice) to 2019, when an interview was published a month after the release of The Furnaces of Palingenesia. The group has never performed live, as they did not consider live shows to be "suitable" to what the band "conveys". There are also no official band photos for Deathspell Omega.

In a 2018 interview with Tobias Forge of Ghost, it was revealed that Franck Hueso (behind synthwave act Carpenter Brut) has produced at least some of Deathspell Omega's albums.
