Additional notes
Formed from the ashes of the band Prisoner, which was founded in the late '70s by Bob Wright, with Jim Schumacher joining some time later. Some of Prisoner's material was later used in Brocas Helm.

In 1984, the band signed with First Strike Records and Steamhammer (licensing deal through First Strike) for American and European distribution of their releases. After some disagreements (for example, the cover used for Into Battle was used without consent of the band), they mutually agreed to end the relationship, even though Brocas Helm still had an obligation for one album.

After a lot of shopping for a new label with little interest, they decided to create and release Black Death themselves. For five years they worked hard in their Caverns of Thunder basement-studio.

After that, Brocas Helm made a couple of (unreleased) demos, mostly to get a label deal so they could record a high quality CD release. While some labels did show interest during this time, an acceptable record deal remained elusive. Brocas Helm later released the Skullfucker single and decided to self-release their third full-length entitled Defender of the Crown.

The band played what was supposed to be their last show at Keep It True XIV on April 30th, 2011, but were later scheduled to play at the Ragnarökkr Festival in 2012.

Jim Schumacher stars as the leading role in the 2017 independent film Rose and Viktor: No Mercy, released by Troma Entertainment. Bob Wright also guest stars as himself. The film's soundtrack mostly features tracks by Brocas Helm, including a full version of Cry of the Banshee which was taken from the film and released as an official music video.
