Additional notes
Xysma is considered by some to be the first-ever Finnish grindcore band, as well as being one of the first bands in the world to play goregrind, with their first two releases representing this style. However, the group quickly moved away from extreme music and then evolved into a stylistic mix of '70s heavy rock in the vein of Black Sabbath and death metal. Then they changed their style again into pure retro rock and finally into pop. Many Finnish death metal bands, like Convulse, Lubricant, Paraxism, Godfall, Pakeni, and Disgrace followed in Xysma's steps.
Split up in 1998. After Thee Stranius's death in 2006, the band reunited for one gig in September 2006.
The band's name means "membranous shreds in the faeces"
Xysma appears to be playing live gigs again as of 2011.
