Additional notes
Von disbanded in 1992, but reunited in 2010 along with two new solo projects (Von Goat and Venien).
According to the book "Black Metal - Evolution of the Cult" (2013) by Dayal Patterson, Von was initially formed on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii but later relocated to San Francisco, California. The idea came from Shawn Calizo.
After almost two decades of inactivity, Calizo and Venien reformed Von in 2010. Calizo quit shortly after, leaving Venien as the sole leader of the band. Venien established Von Records and vVurMzflessshhh Publishing to deal with all Von-related activities.
There is a misconception that Von stands for “Victory Orgasm Nazism”, which stems from an old interview with Varg Vikernes. The interviewer, Michael Moynihan, could not hear the band’s name correctly over the phone, so Varg used those words to spell the band's name phonetically. Von has since stated that the name means “nothing but images of darkness and blood".
