White Lace & Black Leather Reviews

Reviewer :    (80/100)
Date :
White Lace & Black Leather was Helix's second album and was a transition album between the more 70's based sound of their first album and the classic heavy metal of "No Rest of the Wicked" in 1983. Musically this album has a sound that reminds me of early Riot, early Y&T and The Rods. Songs like the title track, "It's Too Late" and Women, Whiskey & Sin fall a little closer to the band's classic 80's sound while most of the rest of the tracks are a blend of bluesy hard rock and 70's style melodic hard rock. Brian Vollmer's vocals are a little more laid back than any album that would follow. Though this album isn't anywhere near as popular as albums that would follow, I personally love the late 70's/early 80's heavy metal sound captured here.
