미국 출신임에도 심포닉한 Progressive Hard Rock을 구사하며 세계적으로 높은 명성을 지니고 있는 Kansas의 네 번째 앨범으로, 밴드 사상 처음으로 플래티넘을 기록한 작품이다. 바이올린을 포함한 6인조로 구성되어 있는데, 기타보다는 몽환적이고 클래시컬한 느낌의 키보드 사운드가 앨범을 지배하고 있으며 매우 시각적이고 멜로디컬하다. 싱글차트 11위에 오르며 폭넓은 인기를 얻은 "Carry on Wayward Son"과 서사적인 진행을 들려주는 "The Wall" 등을 담고 있다. 아기자기한 맛의 극적인 구성을 지닌 Art Rock의 진수이다.
